After an unusually split spoiler season, the prerelease events for Marvel Super Heroes have arrived. June 19th was not only the first opportunity for fans to play the set, but also when local game stores began selling it.
While Marvel Super Heroes might not be the most powerful MTG set, it still contains some fantastic cards. Between bonkers new Commanders and a few gems for Constructed formats, there's plenty to be excited about. As usual, many of these high-power cards also come with hefty price tags.
With that said, it’s time to get into the prices. Here are the most expensive MTG cards from the Marvel Super Heroes set.

As one of the most popular characters in the Marvel multiverse, it's no surprise there's a lot of hype surrounding Tony Stark. Because of this, this Modal Double Faced Card, or MDFC, is also one of the most expensive cards in Marvel Super Heroes. Beyond the character's popularity, however, Tony Stark // The Invincible Iron Man is also a rather powerful card.
Offering consistent card advantage and a way to cheat out huge artifacts, Tony Stark // The Invincible Iron Man seems destined for artifact-focused Commander decks. Considering how popular this archetype is in Commander, it's no surprise the card is expensive. That being said, looking at early EDHREC numbers, this card is far from the most popular Commander at the moment.
At the moment, it remains to be seen whether these still-low play numbers will increase once Marvel Super Heroes officially releases. If they don't, then there's a real chance Tony Stark // The Invincible Iron Man could lose some ground.
4 | Mjölnir, Hammer of Thor
As our pick for the best overall card in Marvel Super Heroes, it's no surprise that Mjölnir, Hammer of Thor is also one of the most expensive cards. Providing solid removal and damage for Equipment-focused Commander decks, it has real potential. As if that wasn't enough, however, being able to discard it for a Pyroclasm-like effect is a huge upgrade.
Thanks to the combination of these abilities, Mjölnir, Hammer of Thor will be an auto-include in countless red-aligned Commander decks. At worst, this card is interesting removal, but it can easily become a game-ending threat as well. To top it all off, it even has strong competitive appeal, thanks to the current presence of many low-toughness creatures in Standard.
While Mjölnir, Hammer of Thor is understandably quite expensive right now, it's unclear how long this price can hold. Not only are we talking about pre-sale prices, but this card also has three unique variants, so supply should be quite plentiful. Even factoring this in, however, demand for this card will likely be high, so it's definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Easily earning a spot on our list of the best cards in Marvel Super Heroes, King T’Challa // Black Panther, Hope Enduring has massive potential. Capable of drawing up to 16 cards per turn cycle in Commander, King T’Challa is a true card advantage engine. Not only will it keep you ahead in the game, but it can also set up some truly insane win conditions.
Thanks to this potential, it seems that King T’Challa // Black Panther, Hope Enduring has a real chance in cEDH at least. Beyond that, King T’Challa could also see play in Standard, in a tempo-oriented control deck. Even if that doesn't happen, however, this card remains a fantastic draw engine for Azorius decks, and will definitely see a lot of play.
2 | Jennifer Walters // The Sensational She-Hulk
Among all the cards on this list of the most expensive Marvel Super Heroes cards, Jennifer Walters // The Sensational She-Hulk is the most surprising inclusion. With a European price around €22 and falling, you might think it's easily one of the best cards in the set, but it's actually surprisingly niche. Essentially, Jennifer Walters is simply another Voice of Victory-like effect for Selesnya decks.
While this might not sound particularly exciting, having an additional effect of this type in Commander is always welcome. In theory, the color identity of Jennifer Walters // The Sensational She-Hulk complicates things, but cEDH rarely lets this problem hinder it. For this reason, Jennifer Walters will appear in many decks, even if it never transforms.
1 | The Mind Stone
Unsurprisingly, The Mind Stone is the most expensive card in Marvel Super Heroes. Following in the footsteps of The Soul Stone from MTG Spider-Man, this new Infinity Gem will immediately be a Commander staple. According to EDHREC, in fact, this card has already been preemptively included in over 4,600 Commander decks.
Essentially, as an indestructible two-mana mana rock, The Mind Stone already has a place in most white-aligned Commander decks. Being able to use Harness on this card is practically a free upgrade, though saying it that way is almost an understatement. Being able to flicker something for free during your end step is a huge advantage for many decks, not just those focused on flickering.
While its European price of around €40-€60 may seem absurd, it might actually not be that high compared to the potential demand. For comparison, The Soul Stone has already proven to be a highly sought-after card, and The Mind Stone is arguably even better. This new Infinity Gem could therefore maintain a high price even after official release, but it remains to be seen how much the actual quantity of opened copies will weigh.
