Mystery Booster: Commander Edition (MBC) brings the unpredictable Mystery Booster formula to Commander Draft. Announced during MagicCon Amsterdam, the product will feature 20-card booster packs. Its debut is scheduled for Gen Con in Indianapolis, from July 30 to August 2, 2026, followed by additional distribution opportunities through Magic conventions and Festival in a Box promotions. The spoiler page lists October 1, 2026, as the release date.

The set will not simply be a collection of reprints: alongside numerous legendary cards from across Magic’s history, it will include 59 mechanically unique cards designed specifically for Commander. One of the main new features is the Rulebreaker designation, reserved for commanders that can alter the normal deck-building rules. Wizards has revealed that the set will contain eight cards with this type of effect.

The first revealed cards are Joven and Chandler and Tolabow, Loch Rascal. Joven and Chandler brings back two characters from Homelands, continuing the nostalgic tradition of Mystery Booster products. Tolabow, Loch Rascal, on the other hand, allows players to include instants and sorceries of an additional color in their deck, together with the basic lands needed to cast them, partially bypassing the usual Commander color identity restrictions.

The gallery will be updated with every new Mystery Booster: Commander Edition card as soon as it is revealed. For now, Rulebreaker, the new commanders, and the large number of legendary reprints suggest a product designed to deliver a chaotic, nostalgic Commander Draft experience unlike that of a standard expansion.
