Ciao a tutti! Sono Marco Vassallo e oggi voglio sviscerare con voi i due formati coinvolti nel competitive online di questo weekend, analizzando il meta e proponendo qualche idea sul metagame che mi aspetto.
Iniziamo dallo Standard (Qualifier BO3 su ARENA dal 6/02 e Qualifier Showcase su MTGO il 7/02)
Per lo standard veniamo da un ProTour estremamente interessante, dove il mazzo più portato, UGx Cub (da ora in poi Cub.dek), ha performato “male” guardando la mera statistica del 45% di winrate, mentre hanno brillato mazzi basati su Sunderflock e strategie ottimizzate contro i Cub.dek, giocando per esempio molte copie di Harvester of Misery oppure portando mazzi come Landfall che cercano chiusure esplosive con Harmonizer e effetti Trample. Grande vincitrice di questo ProTour: la sinergia tra Superior Spider-Man e Deceit.

Detto questo, penso che almeno per questa settimana, intimoriti dal meta, molti giocatori non porteranno dei mazzi a piano Cub per paura di giocare contro il metagame winner del ProTour. D’altro canto, mi aspetto che i mazzi con piani forti come Elementals dovranno rivedere le proprie 60 di main, magari spostando Sunderflock e carte simili in sideboard: spesso e volentieri, contro i tier 1,5 come Lesson, Jeskai Control ed Elementals è carta bianca.

Insieme a “Elementals rivisitato” trovo che Dimir Excruciator sia un’ottima scelta per il weekend: piano molto forte con una combo e diverse power play. Anche qui penso ci sia bisogno di rivedere la struttura del main deck, spostando quantomeno almeno 1 o 2 copie di Harvester of Misery in sideboard.

Sconsiglio la scelta di Cub.dek o simili per paura che si possano incontrare ancora mazzi super tirati nei confronti di questo Match Up, ma nel caso vorreste giocarlo comunque consiglio la lista di Guglielmo Lupi. Penso che questa linea di Cub 5c sia un’ottima scelta per dare al mazzo anche altre linee di gioco rispetto a quelle che richiedono obbligatoriamente Badgermole Cub.

Anche mazzi come Jeskai Control e simili non sono felici di un metagame dove si riduce la presenza di Badgermole Cub per uno in cui aumenta la presenza di Deceit, ma tra tutti preferisco le scelte di Marco Belacca, cercando di inquadrare Jeskai Control come mazzo solido con diversi 4x, carte centrali contro i Cub.dek come Ultima e le 4 copie della miglior carta del mazzo: Jeskai Revelation

Mi aspetto, infine, che possano fare bene due mazzi come Lesson e Reanimator. Il primo si conferma estremamente solido nell’impostare un gameplan quando il metagame è basato sulle creature, inoltre adoro questa nuova versione con 4 counter di main, tra cui Three Steps Ahead che permette una flessibilità unica come giocata tra counter, motore di discard e copia di Monument to Endurance.
Il secondo, per quanto abbia fatto male in termini di statistiche, mi aspetto che possa riprendersi bene lavorando su build dove si giocano 1 o massimo 2 Bringer of the Last Gift, 3/4 Formidable Speaker e una buona base di elementals.

Io personalmente penso che giocherò una lista di Elementals molto simile a quella di Adriano Moscato in una delle ultime Challenge, spostando almeno 2 Sunderflock di side in favore di 2 Spider-Sense, perché vedo il counter come carta più impattante nel confronto diretto con Dimir Excruciator, Mirror Match e Jeskai Control.

Andiamo ora ad analizzare il formato opposto dello standard, passando alla preparazione dello showcase di domenica, parliamo di Vintage.Il metagame è abbastanza stantio, con continui giri tra il trittico di mazzi Mono W Initiative, Raker Shops e Lurrus Control.
Per i più avvezzi al formato suggerisco di non discostarsi troppo da Lurrus, è ampiamente il mazzo più solido e con le giocate migliori.
